Mr. Dunne is the nephew of the former Prime Minister of Ireland, Jack Lynch.  In l974, he received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University College of Cork and had several hits in Europe.  CahaI started a band in Ireland in 1977, and against all the odds they made it. They won the equivalent of American Idol in 1979 with his own song “Happy Man.” It was his first number one hit, but they were always fighting the recession, dance halls closing up etc. so Cahal had two choices: go back teaching or emigrate, so Cahal emigrated. He’s glad he did, and  enjoys playing and singing more than ever all over the U.S.

Regarding his new book, “Put Yer Rosary Beads Away Ma”:  In this book, Cahal tracks the progress of a young man from Cork City: choir director, music teacher, show band musician, and seminal Celtic rocker.  He does this through a series of interwoven vignettes, some hilarious and some heart-wrenching but all vastly entertaining and available for sale to download on Amazon.

Dunne has just received some exciting news that a top movie director in Ireland likes his book and his life story might become a movie in the near future!

"A salty tale indeed, but it also has a charming innocence about it that  I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated."-  Mary Mc Girr, Book Reviewer and Radio Host, Albany, NY.

"This book is a joy to read filled with life and humanity. Dunne knows how to tell a story. He uses humor and suspense, making the book a fun and easy read. Weaving modern Irish history, and all his anecdotes and experiences, he has a great ability to create colorful scenes." --  Frank West, Irish American News, Chicago.
